Hitched: Liz & Marc at The Salish Lodge

I loved this wedding. Liz and Marc got married on a gorgeous September day at the very Northwest Salish Lodge at Snoqualmie Falls, in where else, Snoqualmie, Washington. (you can see their engagement session HERE) The sun was peeking out through the puffy clouds all day, not too hot, not too cool. The bride was incredible, the light was incredible, the groom was incredible, and the flowers smelled incredible! When we arrived, we tracked down the gals. Liz was so excited, and so gorgeous. I’ll never forget as she was putting on her final touches, I could see her dad on the other side of the room, trying to blend in with the wallpaper, watching his daughter prepare for her wedding. The look on his face was the sweetest thing, and once Liz saw it, the tears were already running down her face. I loved loved loved her dress. Might be one of my favorite dresses of all time :). Her gardenias were so fragrant, I could just follow her around all day! Marc was so excited to see her for the first time- we put him out on the balcony of their suite for a very private first look. Liz even had to take a moment inside before she went through the doorway to meet her man. I love how much they love each other. The ceremony had some of the most beautiful light I’ve ever seen, peeking through the trees on top of the bluff. Then off to the party-it definitely read like the swankiest cocktail party, and the only hint of wedding were the sweet toasts and cake cutting!

The View From Up Here

So here I am, sitting at my desk, just minding my own business working on some album designs. And all of a sudden, the room fills with the most gorgeous, warm, fiery Sunkist light you’d ever see, reflecting off the trees outside next to the busy road. Here is the neon view from my window at 3 o’clock every afternoon! (well, as long as it’s sunny!)

Bringin the Boys Home

Last summer I was honored to shoot Pam and Steve’s crazy fun military wedding on Fort Lewis. At the beginning of last month I got an unexpected phone call from Pam: Steve has been on assignment in Afghanistan, and was coming home for a way-too-short 18 days. She wanted to forever remember the moment that she saw him for the first time at the airport, and asked if I would accompany her there to photograph his homecoming- I was so elated to be invited into such a wonderful and sweet moment, I couldn’t wait. Day by day we waited until we got word that he was going to arrive at 5:03 pm on the 27th of September, and then the day finally came. We waited in the airport by the baggage claim for an eternity, watching the minutes tick by on the clock. Pam’s emotions were as plain as the grin on her face- she hadn’t seen Steve in months, and being a newlywed, that’s an eternity. We finally saw his uniformed shoulder rounding the corner, and the exhausted look on his face was swiftly replaced by happiness, then relief. He’d been awake and traveling for four days, airport to airport, and finally was home. Kleenex anyone?steveshome.jpg

Hooray for Working Email!

So… some of you may know about my struggles with email lately- my old website server was incredibly unreliable at delivery of emails, which really put a crimp in project productivity! So… in hopes of solving that uncool issue, I’ve launched a whole new website, on a whole new server, with a whole new look!

Take a peek! www.mcconnellphoto.com

More images are coming soon, so if you’re a past or present client, you’ll more than likely find yourself on there somewhere! And if not yet, then sit tight- I’ll be rotating images out more often to keep things fresh, and you’re probably still on the blog.

I’m afraid there were some reported casualties: if you had emailed us this last weekend (probably Sunday through Monday) and you haven’t heard back yet, the email may have been -gasp!- lost in cyberspace during the switchover!! Rest assured, all systems are a go and fully functional at this time- I look forward to hearing from you again. Thank you for flying and enjoy your stay!
