Announcing Baby Miles!

November was the month that beautiful Miles Mikhail was born. After documenting Molly’s growing belly, she and Mikhail invited me back to their home when it was time to photograph their first baby- their new son. Our first session was on a chilly wintery day in November- we wanted to capture Miles as a newborn so that we could make some gorgeous, gorgeous announcements (they’re stunning, I should post about those, too!). After a few scheduling snaffus (ahhh the snow in the foothills can be a bit of a challenge sometimes!) I finally made it over. With a newborn, you really have to go with the flow when you’re shooting. Every couple of minutes something new happened, whether it was time for a bottle or a new diaper! Here are some of our favorite shots from the day- I can’t wait to see how much he’s grown at our next session here in a week or so! (and can you believe it! The last shot is nicknamed “The Shooter!!” Now we’ll be ready for next time- feed the baby and put on the rain gear immediately!!!)071209_0058.jpg071209_0059.jpg071209_0062.jpg071209_0065.jpg071209_0077.jpg071209_0083b.jpg071209_0128.jpg071209_0140b.jpg071209_0146.jpg071209_0149b.jpg071209_0153.jpg071209_0169b.jpg071209_0124.jpg

Chuckle of the Day

I really do have so much blogging to catch up on, and I promise I won’t be one of those people who start a blog and love it for a while, then totally drop off the face of the Earth! This has been such a wonderful Fall, thank you everyone for keeping me in mind when it comes to holiday cards, portrait sessions of the fam and new additions, and prints as gifts for your fam!As soon as I finish up with these holiday orders I’ll be back to blog about Courtney & Tyrone’s wedding, Susan & Gavin’s wedding, the Jenkins family, Keri & Gary, Juli & Christopher, Mike & Holly’s wedding, and tons of random tidbits I’ve been putting on the back burner. But today, as I was editing a cute little family portrait session, I came across this image and had to share-it cracks me up to think of the sheer volume of drool that kids produce. I wonder if anyone has ever measured, scientifically speaking…_xyz1441b.jpgp.s. mom isn’t in the habit of giving her baby candy- this was the first time he’s ever tasted sweets (purely for the picture of course! I come prepared with Blow Pops to some shoots…). He totally shuddered after tasting the overwhelming, cheek puckering, sweetness!

Announcing Baby Natalie!

This is Shaine and Ryan’s second, but their first little girl. A couple of months ago, the phone rang, and it was a gal named Shaine. She laid it all out on the table, something to the effect of: “My regular photographer is at the hospital with her new baby, and I’m going to go into labor in 3 days. I really want to document my belly!” So the very next morning, so bright and so early, on a ferry I hopped, on my way to meet her young son Zach and Shaine for our first portrait session!

Fast forward a couple of weeks, and I get the email announcing baby Natalie Elizabeth’s arrival. She was a wonderful 8 pounds, 3 ounces the early afternoon of July 30th. So we scheduled round two, and again, I hopped on the ferry and scooted over to their home on Bainbridge Island, this time to also meet their crazy retrievers and her husband, too!

Welcome To The World Baby Zachary!

On May 13th, Nikki and Chris welcomed their very first baby boy into the world. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph them for their engagement on the campus of the University of Washington, at their wedding at the Woodmark Hotel, when Nikki had a cute-happy little belly a couple of month ago, and then just recently when baby Zachary was born. I just love how they told everyone that they were going to be parents: for Christmas cards this year they had someone take a picture of them while they were on vacation, and they were holidng a sign that said “It’s a Boy!” They sent these cards to all of their friends and family to announce that they were going to be having a baby, and what a surprise would that be in your mailbox! This picture is on his book shelf, which holds classic books like Goodnight Moon, his closet is full of wonderful new sports and nautical outfits (complete with a UW vs. Notre Dame theme!!), and his crib is full of stuffed friends and sports. There’s no doubt of the exitement of his awaited arrival, and now he’s finally here!
