Hitched: Meghan & Kevin at the Skansonia

Romantic vintage is how I’d describe Meghan & Kevin’s wedding celebration on the antique Skansonia Ferry boat last month. I love how she put together the soft greens, romantic roses, and dreamy creams, all inspired by a turn of the century styled cameo necklace Kevin gave to Meghan while they were dating.

I love the attitude of this shot… so funny!

A little post-nuptual champagne and lounge on their fabulous velvet couch.

This was their sugary sweet signature cocktail. When Meghan and I were planning out the photography details at our last pre-wedding meeting, we had a little side conversation about what their drink should be called. They both have rather uncommon last names, so after a little name scrabble, the “Megvan Steensbak” popped out of my mouth. I was delighted to see this on the menu at the bar!! Naturally it’s one of my favorite shots of the day :)

I’m not much of a cake gal (cause if I ate the cake at every wedding… well… let’s just say I’d have to buy new pants!), but it looked so good I had to try a bit. YUM!!!

Venue: Skansonia Ferry

Dress: uber romantic design by Maggie Sottero at Wallingford’s I Do Bridal

Flowers: Ballard Blossom

Cake: designed by Iska of Cake

Transport: British Motor Coach

Wedding Photographer: Yours truly!

Expecting: Catherine + Mike

Catherine and Mike are SO excited for the arrival of their first baby!  I first met them a few years back, and had the absolutely overwhelming pleasure of photographing their wedding and witnessing an all around fun day at the Edgewater Hotel in downtown Seattle.  I couldn’t have been happier for them when I heard about Catherine’s bump… and boy is she cute as ever!!

Thank you guys so so much for having me over (allll the way across Ballard… go Ballard!!!).  Can’t wait for the phone call saying that its time to schedule part two ;)  And special thanks to Mike for hanging in there… chewing nearly two packs of watermelon flavored Hubba Bubba gum for one silly picture is a tough job!

Fine Art Albums

This season is a great time to get caught up on all of those rainy day projects- not because you normally wouldn’t do them unless it is raining, but because you aren’t shooting because it is raining, giving you actual, non-interrupted time to do production work. Here are some great albums that we’ve designed in the last two months. These are the handmade Fine Art Albums- each real photographic print is mounted on heavy card stock pages, a throw back to the vintage wedding albums of our grandparents (minus the photo corners).

First, a large album for Matt and Mary’s parents. Since Matt’s parents were local (everyone else is out of state!), they came to me and we had a little design meeting, picking their favorite images, navy blue for the cover, and a text tile. It’s 12×12″ and each page has a different layout depending on how the day was unfolding at that moment.

Next was Molly’s 8×8″ belly album. This is volume one, the second one will be a larger one of baby Miles (post to come on that one!). The cover fabric is my favorite one offered (greeeeeen!), with an image trio. Each page holds one 5×7 print.

The last Fine Art Album was for Danny and Bria’s wedding album. It’s a 12×12″ album in a shiny black animal-friendly leather, with an image title trio. This one also shows the vellum title page that starts the story.

Molly: Mom to Be

Molly is what all women hope to look like when they’re pregnant - gorgeous. Inside her belly is her very first and very precious baby boy. Wish her luck- she’s due any MINUTE now, and stay tuned for some more shots of her family in December! I can’t even tell you how much fun we had at this belly shoot, Molly is definitely one super spunky mom-to-be, and what a great sport who isn’t afraid to try anything for a good shot!
