Engaged: Karen & Todd

Nurses.  A whole bunch of trouble, if you ask me.  Karen met Todd at work.  Thought he was super cute, super smart, just a super guy in general.  He even moved into her super building, so now they are super neighbors.  Finally, after a WHOLE lot of heavy thought on the subject, there was some asking-out.  And the rest, as they say, is history.

Despite their absolutely opposite work schedules at the hospital (think graveyard shift meets 9-5) they’ve managed to grow quite close, and have invited me to be the wedding photographer for their gathering at the super Farm Kitchen over in Poulsbo.  We all love this venue- it’s an old barn converted into a most quaint reception hall among orchards, horses, and most importantly, the most colorful and beautiful dahlia field you’ve ever seen.  In fact, one of the reasons that Karen and Todd picked the Farm Kitchen for their wedding venue is the dahlias- Karen’s father was known as The Dahlia Man because of his love of growing them.

I truly can’t wait to see how their wedding unfolds- it will be a super fun day, not without tons of emotions as Karen wants to include the memory of her father in every way that she can.  Check out the following pics from their engagement portrait session up on Discovery Park one super afternoon- and don’t miss their funny little old-man-of-a-dog Charlie, who couldn’t be bothered much for his close-up! (do you see him making his mark?  gotta love dogs and babies… wink wink!)

Engagement Portraits: BreAnna & Jesse in Kirkland

We walked ALL over the place the day that I met BreAnna and Jesse for their getting to know you shoot in Kirkland. Why Kirkland? It’s where they live and it’s where they met! As far as the Eastside goes, Kirkland might be the best spot for nightlife and to pick up your future squeeze- one night while out with some friends at a classic rock bar, BreAnna spotted Jesse as he walked in the door and the rest is history. We started at the waterfront, then up to the site of the old junior high (where Jesse’s mom went!), then back around to a local watering hole for our last photo spot. You see, Jesse used to be a bartender so he knows all the spots and and all the right people to make us the perfect Greyhounds and Super Dirty Vodka Martinis. Extra super dirty, like Courtney Love, right guys?? Can’t wait to see everything planner Michelle Engvall is working on for them for their wedding at Newcastle next month!

Engaged: Sarah & Tim

Now I’m really in trouble… so behind that these two have actually already gotten married! But while we’re editing THOSE images… since I have nothing else to do at 1 am on a workday (?!?!), here are some of my favorites from our getting to know you shoot a couple of months ago in downtown Seattle! We started around the Sculpture Park, but there was a wedding there, so we just meandered along the waterfront! Early congrats, Sarah + Tim!!!!

Engaged: Darcy & Matt

Granted, this is June, and we shot this engagement session in April, but taking today’s weather into account, it could have been just yesterday!   Seriously though, when are we due for some summer?!

I’m really looking forward to Darcy & Matt’s wedding at the lovely Farm Kitchen this next November.  Darcy, taking time out of her busy grad school schedule at NYU, and Matt, taking a few days off from the bustling life of being a chef at one of Bobby Flay’s happening spots Mesa Grill, flew over from New York one rainy Spring afternoon so we could make some fun images and spend time getting to know each other in the industrial and edgy district of Georgetown (oh and I’m sure they also did some wedding planning and friend-seeing while they were here too!).

With the help of wedding and event planner Michelle from Married and More With Michelle, they are planning a green wedding at one of our favorite venues,  The Farm Kitchen, with special emphasis on in-season organic foods.  As miss Michelle puts it, “Think country rustic meets chic and modern with a Green twist.”  I can’t wait to taste the yummy food- I’m a sucker for good {veggie} cuisine!

I guess on the flip side, there are always puddles to splash in on the way back to the car… OR maybe it’s the perfect spot to make your own rockstar album cover in front of ;)
