Style Me Pretty! EEEeeeeeeeee!

Style Me Pretty Little Black Book Certified

Over the last few years, I’ve loved stopping in and experiencing some of the fantastic eye candy on one of the wedding industries most illustrious style blogs, Style Me Pretty.

I’ve been fortunate enough  to work with some of their favorite, hand picked vendors in the past, who had submitted images from our weddings together. Last year, I was more than delighted to find out that Style Me Pretty had featured two of our favorite celebrations! I had hoped that someday I would have the opportunity to be part of their community, but since they were full in the photography category, not to mention that each of their vendors were hand picked and went through a scrutinous vetting process, I filed it away in the “yeah right” category of my mind and went about my business.

Last week I got a call- apparently someone had been watching my work and keeping tabs on me. They were officially inviting me into their Little Black Book : The Best Wedding Vendors community!! I am so excited for this opportunity- they’ve got some fantastic things going on over there and some wonderful new profile features and opportunities due to roll out over the next few weeks. I can’t wait to get my profile fully built, they even integrate our blog and social media links!! NO WAY! It’s like our own little website on THEIR website!

If you’re a bride, check em out. There are inspiration boards galore and inspiration galleries if you need help finding a cool accessory or favor idea, not to mention their new Inspiration To Reality concept shoots (ooooh, that’s what IIIII want to shoot! Simply SCRUMPTIOUS.).

If you’re a photographer, planner, designer, etc, check out Abby’s wedding business blog, Backstage, for some fun stories, interesting reads, and what she’s found helpful in running her businesses!

Happy birthday to me, yeah? :)

Introducing Accordion Pocket Albums!

I have been looking for perfect pocket-sized brag books to add to my studio’s offerings for ages. Finally…. the 3×3″ Accordion Pocket Album!!

Available in sets of 3, they are perfect for little photography gifts to grandparents or bridesmaids, or just for carrying in your purse! I’m a stickler for good print quality, and have finally found the best!! These come in a few different paper choices, as well as leatherettes (like this mod red one!) and canvases.

This one I had printed up as a surprise for Nick and Danni (it’s of their actual marriage proposal we photographed last month!), and kept one for a studio sample (and a fun memory, of course! What a GREAT day!!).

I rarely do promotions over here, but I thought it would be fun to include 6 of these for each wedding package booked in January just for giggles. So there ya’ go: now you can’t say I never gave ya’ anything ;)

DJ’s Have Sales? This One Does!!

One of Seattle’s hottest DJ companies, Seattle Parties, just launched a GRRRREAT holiday promotion!!!

The next 20 gigs they book (between now and the New Year) will be a mere $1,000. That’s about 1/2 off their regular rates!!!

Are Leslie and Sean nuts? Maybe. Do they like to party? Heck yeah. Do they spin a mean sound? Yep.

So if you’re throwing a holiday party or a wedding in the next few, give them a jingle. And don’t forget to mention “Cash Crunch from Laurel’s Blog” so they know that you haven’t been hittin’ the egg nog too hard and making things up!

A Unique Wedding Favor: Flip Books Made On Demand!

At this year’s Get Hitched, Give Hope, we were lucky enough to snag Flipped Out Productions as one of our generous sponsors.  If you haven’t heard of these guys, or experienced their product, checking out their services is a MUST when planning your wedding or next event. Their product is unique, fresh, and quite the little souvenir!

Here’s how it goes: similar to a traditional photo booth, they come and set up a white backdrop, big light, video camera, printing station, and touch screen. Josh (the owner) brought a bunch of silly fun props to set the mood: oversized glasses, guitars, boas, hats, signs, and microphones, and I’m sure you could bring your own if you were throwing a themed party. What makes it NOT like your traditional photobooth: he takes a 7 second video of you and your pals jumping, singing, fighting, staring, etc, and within just a couple of minutes (seriously, like TWO), a sweet little book is printed, hot off the press, for you to take home as a favor!!

Check out the silly little video I made and edited (I’m SO going to be a videographer now…. jokes!) with just a FEW of the books I walked away with (yes, sorry… I spent the whole night there, they all have my goofy face in them. I think I ended up with a purse full of 9 books or so…. thanks Josh!!).

Cheers! And happy wedding planning!!
